As a small boy I fished all of South Louisiana with my father Jesse Smith. In 1981 I took up Go-Kart racing and was competitive on a Regional and National level. Then I began driving Sprint Cars and competed in the ASCS, American Sprint Car Series. After Sprint Car racing I trained for and completed my first Ironman Triathlon in 2000. At the time I owned and operated a small oilfield consulting business.
In 2009 I decided to pursue the passion of my childhood and became a fulltime fishing guide. I acquired my USCG Master's Captain License. I'm a lifetime member of CCA (Coastal Conservation Association).
I was featured in (and on the cover of) Gerald Horst's book about LA guides...Trout Masters Too: How the Pros Do It
Presently I'm touring with the Professional Redfish League, a competitive Redfish tournament series.
